Shouldn’t this be in the first generation since it depicts the Viet Minh and the French M24 Chaffee tank named Smolensk they captured at Dien Bien Phu ?
Thank you for your feedback, George. Although the image depicts a tank captured at the Battle of Điện Biên Phủ, the painting was created in 1958, after the timeframe we consider to be First Generation. Additionally, the artist Lê Huy Toàn was born in 1930 and did not have any formal artistic training before joining the Viet Minh and actually fighting at the battle of Điện Biên Phủ. He did keep a sketching journal during this time but only started working as an artist after 1954.
