The Fall of Saigon, also known as Liberation Day in Vietnam, denotes the 30 April 1975 when Saigon was liberated by the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the National Liberation Front (NLF) from US and South Vietnamese control. The event marked the end of the Second Indochina War (1955-1975) and the start of a transition period to the formal reunification of Vietnam into the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
