The Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association was founded in Ho Chi Minh City in 1975. Its origins can be traced back to the Liberation Art Chamber under the purview of the Central Committee, that then became the Liberation Fine Arts Association, and then the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association. It is a professional political and social organization with the mission to organize, gather and bring together artists working in the field of visual art and applied art. It also aims to respect the creative freedom of all art classes on the basis of the cultural and artistic ways of the Communist Party, to absorb the essence of world art culture and preserve and promote the Vietnamese cultural identity
