The Military Arts School (Trường nghệ thuật quân sự) was established in 1955, in Hanoi, as the first school to train cultural and artistic officers in the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN). At the end of 1992, the school was assigned the task of training cultural staff for grassroots units in addition to the task of training officers and actors for professional art troupes. It is now known as the Military University of Culture and Arts under the purview of General Department of Politics, an office of the Ministry of Defense of Vietnam.
