Second Indochina War

The Second Indochina War (referred to as the Vietnam War or the American War by the US and Vietnam respectively) took place between 1 November 1955 and 30 April 1975. Although the start of the conflict is debated, American historical sources cite the 1 November due to the establishment of the U.S. Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) Vietnam. The conflict pitted the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN), the National Liberation Front (NLF) paramilitary, and Việt Cộng guerilla units against United States troops and the US-backed South Vietnamese Army of Vietnam (ARVN). The end of the conflict came after what is termed as the Fall of Sài Gòn on 30 April 1975.
