The Vietnam University of Fine Arts was established after the Vietnam Fine Arts College was renamed in 1981. Today, the university offers five-year Bachelor of Fine Art programmes and two-year full-time or three-year part-time Master of Arts programmes in Painting, Graphic Art and Sculpture, and a four-year Bachelor of Fine Art Education programmes. Its origins can be found in the formation of École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine in 1927 by Victor Tardieu and Vietnamese artist Nam Sơn.
